Germany host Brazil in an international friendly at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Tuesday. It’s set to be a demanding warm-up for the hosts ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The world champions will be among the favourites for the trophy again this summer, as will the Selecao.

Both squads boast an enviable amount of match-winners in forward areas. However, Brazil still miss injured Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar, while Germany are content to let classy Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil miss out.

Die Mannschaft won 7-1 in Brazil when the sides last met, hammering the hosts of the 2014 FIFA World Cup at the semi-final stage in Belo Horizonte.

Germany and Brazil meet this evening for the first time since Joachim Low’s men thrashed the hosts of the 2014 World Cup 7-1 at the semi-final stage.

Germany went on to be crowned world champions with an extra-time win over Argentina in the final and are preparing to mount a defence of their title in the summer.

Should Low’s side triumph in Russia, they will become the first side to win back-to-back World Cups since Brazil in 1962 and in Tuesday’s friendly, the Selecao will be determined to show there will be no walkovers at this summer’s tournament.
